About Mountainside Chocolates
Mountainside Chocolates, family owned and operated, is located near Asheville in North Carolina's Nantahala Mountains, bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We lovingly make all of our chocolates and confections by hand, right in our shop, using only the freshest ingredients and carefully guarded Drost family recipes that date back to 1887. We do not use preservatives or paraffin in our chocolates – a difference you'll appreciate. We love what we do and hope you will love our candies, too!

Order Processing
Most orders received by noon Eastern time are shipped
the following day. However, for quality purposes, orders received Thursday
through
Saturday
are held and
shipped the following Monday, unless Overnight shipping is requested.
This way your order doesn't sit in a shipping warehouse or delivery
truck over
a weekend! Please note that because all of our confections are handmade,
we may not have everything in stock and thus may need an extra day or
two to complete your order.
Payment
Mountainside Chocolates accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express
and Discover. We use Dansie, a secure online
ordering/payment system to
ensure your protection and privacy. Please be assured that none
of your
information is shared or sold.
Shipping
We take great care to package your candy so it will arrive in
excellent condition. Because we do not use preservatives or
paraffin in our candies
(a difference you
can taste!), we ship in reusable insulated coolers with gel
packs when weather requires.
Shipping/Holiday Deadlines
- We use the most cost effective shipping available for your area and weather conditions. Please use this chart as a guide only, as in most cases your actual shiping charges will be less than the chart indicates.
- Most orders received by noon E.S.T. are shipped next day. Since all of our products are handmade, if your selection is not in stock, it may take an extra day or two to complete your order.
- Orders received Thursday through Saturday will be held for shipment the following Monday (for quality purposes), unless Next Day shipping is requested.
- In order to not incur extra shipping costs,please order at least two weeks prior to any major holiday.

To Keep Your Chocolates Fresh…
Mountainside Chocolates are made with only the freshest ingredients…and no preservatives. If you won’t be eating your chocolates right away (within two weeks), we recommend wrapping them in an airtight container or zip-up plastic bag and freezing them. When you’re ready to eat, defrost for at least 24 hours at room temperature, still in the airtight container or bag, then remove and enjoy!
When ordering candy to be sent as a gift, be sure to fill in the gift message option on the order form. We'll include a gift card with your message and name in the shipment.
